A new and
fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technology Consultant specialising
in Oracle databases. The role requires a solid understanding of database
management, patching, tuning and recovery in standalone and clustered
environments. The role requires an agnostic approach to databases and
infrastructure, with a requirement to act as a trusted technical consultant who
assists customer’s select, prepare and support products within their
organisation, along with technical problem resolution, the design and
implementation of solutions for contracted services.
Responsibilities:
·
Understand the marketplace, keeping up-to-date with current and
future technologies, products and strategies.
·
Act as an interface between customer and Vendor to create
appropriate solution by interpretation of the products and customer needs.
·
Assist Customers determine their Product Specifications in a
consultative, Vendor independent manner.
·
Evaluate the marketplace, bench mark possible solutions and
provide a recommendation to the customer, formally when required.
·
Work with other areas of the business to gather pricing, stock
holding and service information.
·
Demonstrate products to Customers to help refine their
requirements and facilitate a choice.
·
Obtain and review proactive Vendor information relating to product
changes.
·
Assist as required with the launch of new products selected by the
customer, ensuring that the solution continues to meet the requirements of the
customer.
·
Take an active role in the management of product related issues.
·
Maintain all administrative documentation as requested.
·
Technically scope new services and tool sets and review regularly
Skills
Required:
·
Specialist database knowledge with Oracle 11g
·
Extensive experience with implementing and configuring Oracle
Databases.
·
Specialist knowledge of database DR solutions including Oracle
Dataguard, Log Shipping or San Replication
·
Specialist knowledge of database HA environments using Oracle RAC
or other clustering technologies
·
Experience of solution delivery within these area of specialism
·
Appropriate industry accreditation, OCA or OCP
·
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
·
High level understanding of technology use, direction and market
trends.
·
Ability to articulate complex technologies to a wide audience.
·
Ability to design and deliver effective presentations to large
audiences.
Skills Desired:
·
Experience with multiple database versions
·
Experience of database version upgrades
·
Experience in deploying and configuring Weblogic
·
Experience in deploying and upgrading Oracle applications
·
Other database experience, MS SQL Server, MYSQL, Sybase, DB2
·
Appreciation of project management methods, for example PRINCE
·
Application development experience
